If you have a human opponent it is a strong recommendation to get it. (Though the AI not quite knowing how best to employ some of its Republican units might make it more realistic.) This game is the one that will best give you a grander feel of the overall war than the other, more battle- or operation campaign-focused games mentioned by others. I think with a human playing the Republican faction it can go well, but I have my doubts if the AI will know what it is supposed to do with some of these Republican units. Espana 1936 is an ambitious game that tries to explore some of the complexities of the Republican units and factions. A very good game by the same AGEOD modder turned AGEOD game designer, from Spain, who also made the English civil war game and the Thirty Years War, both very good as well. I played this game a couple of times with a human opponent.
